Buddy Gancenia Cites as Best Case

Written by Buddy Gancenia. Posted in Awards and Milestones

Another milestone…

———————

The Association of Training Institutions for Foreign Trade in Asia and the Pacific presented Buddy Gancenia as a best case of SME application of the Business Management System. Buddy’s case was presented by Ms Anji Resurreccion on November 13, 2007 at the Conrad Hotel in Cairo, Egypt during a Network Meeting for Bridging the Use-Divide (a geeky description of things to do with electronic commerce). The meeting was attended by well over a hundred policy makers, senior managers of trade support institutions, international trade development institutions, technical cooperation agencies, SME financing organizations, ETB regional hubs, national centres, trainers and consultants from Bangladesh, Bolivia, Burkina, Faso, Cameroon, Canada, China, Colombia, Cuba, Egypt, El Salvador, Ethiopia, France, Germany, United Kingdom, Honduras, Jamaica, Jordan, Kazakhstan, Kenya, Laos, Lebanon, Mexico, Moldova, Mongolia, Morocco, Netherlands, Nicaragua, Peru, Philippines, Romania, Russia, Rwanda, Senegal, Switzerland, Syria, Tanzania, Tunisia, Turkey, UAE, Uganda, United States, Uzbekistan, and Vietnam.

The presentation took the form of a video showcasing Buddy’s testimony and sample works. Those who viewed Buddy’s case and works on the web were amazed at the quality of his videos. In the words of Mr Gultekin, an executive from Geneva, His work makes me wish to get married again! And the guy meant marrying the same woman he has lived with for over twenty years. Other participants in the Cairo meeting asked if Buddy could be imported to cover weddings abroad. We say, why not?

A number of listeners in the audience were inspired by Buddy’s successful attempt to deliver wedding videos in two weeks, with the same superior quality he has been known to deliver. ATIFTAP and its network associates have been following Buddy’s business progress closely during the past two years. Buddy uses BMS concepts and tools in the management of his business. The system is supported by the UN International Trade Centre UNCTAD/WTO.

Buddy’s case will be featured again in the Global Business Conference to be held in Manila in February 2008. The conference will be attended by over a thousand faculty members and students of business schools in the Philippines and some countries in Asia and Africa. Buddy Gancenia’s case shows how excellence pays to stay competitive both locally and internationally.

Buddy Gancenia of Reality Wedding Video bags the Grand Prize in the first-ever Sony Wedding Video Competition at the Wedding and Portrait Photographers of the Philippines (WPPP) Photographer’s Night held at Club Filipino, Greenhills San Juan on October 24, 2007.

Gancenia’s video was chosen as the best among 36 other entries with Bob Nicolas and Mayad Studios grabbing the succeeding runner-up positions.

His video garnered the most number of audience votes. Buddy’s unique reality style stood out among the other five finalists, who all used a music video style.

“We felt confident that we could get to the finals, but we were still quite nervous because the audience might not get our style, Gancenia said in Filipino. He then added, “We have predicted that Bob Nicolas will be our fiercest competitor; he has great visuals. So when they announced that Bob got second, we knew we had it.

The WPPP Photographer’s Night is the gala event that marked the close of the WPPP Photo Congress held last October 22-24, 2007 at the Megatrade Hall of SM Megamall.

Mr. Buddy Gancenia is the guy you are looking for. He can do anything! Yes, anything! From cooking the yummiest adobo to planting self-sufficient plants in bottles, and whatever the client wants, and expects, he can surely do it and more. Mr. Buddy is never a cheapskate with his clients. He always gives them his best, and I even think sometimes the clients are becoming abusive of him. He would just tell me, You should always please your clients. Because in the end it will benefit you most. I mean, what is it to add just a little more effort? When a client is happy with your service, one client becomes a lot of clients. They need to find you beyond just satisfactory.

Mr Buddy is a man bursting with creativity and resourcefulness, and also a man of excellence and passion. Whenever we have a wedding to video he prepares at least a week before. He meets with his clients and gets to know them, building a friendship with them that helps them feel at ease when he comes to video on the wedding day.

Let me tell you what I see up close in the making of a Buddy Gancenia wedding video. It is a Saturday, and we enter the bride’s room. Immediately, Kuya Edgar, Kuya Sonny, & Kuya Dan set-up the cameras and lights. The bride is just getting ready. Ma’am Cathy starts to small talk the bride, who at first seems a bit stiff before all the cameras. The bride attempts to joke. To this, Ma’am Cathy laughs heartily, which makes the bride a little less jittery. I have no idea how she found the joke funny, but then again Ma’am Cathy always finds humor in everything, even when the father of the groom is so rude to us. She turns to me and says, ..brides are nervous at this hour; part of our goal is to make everyone feel at home even with all these cameras. We have to take away their minds off all this equipment and their worries.

This is Mrs. Cathy’s forte. She really knows how to win the hearts of everyone, even the groom’s grumpy father. Soon I even see this particular father making weird jokes, and Mrs. Cathy laughing her head off. Still amidst her giggles, she turns to me puzzled, without a clue as to what the joke meant. That makes me laugh.

Meanwhile Mr. Buddy is looking all serious and stressed, getting ready with the laptop that is the basis of whether everything will go well or not. I can almost hear his creativity juices simmering, slowly coming to a boil as he taps on the keyboard and then CLICK!

As though his creative volcano has erupted, Sir Buddy spews a series of commands. Go check the groom, make sure he’s ready! I need a shot of the interview, where’s the tape? By this time the bride’s room is filled with people running around and photographers, make-up artists, relatives and well-meaning faces are all over. Ma’am Cathy goes in and out every room ambushing everyone with questions about the couple, and interviewing the parents and family members.

From this moment, until the viewing of Sir Buddy’s on-site video, very few words will be heard from him, other than his commands. But whenever we need him he comes to us and fix the problem. He still personally sees to the interviews and talks to the couple and their family.

I have never encountered a client who is not the least bit impressed with Sir Buddy. In fact, I have not encountered a client that did not love Sir Buddy. A client whom I interviewed even told me about how she and her groom chose Mr. Buddy Gancenia. She had been looking for a videographer during the one-year and months of planning. Then her sister gave her Sir Buddy’s website. After watching the sample videos, she said, this is it Even the groom exclaimed, I think it is impossible for all that emotion to be staged.

What Mr. Buddy does is simply capturing the day as it unfolds. To be honest, I always thought that a wedding would be pretty dreamy. However, whenever I asked the bride, Did your day turn out to be the wedding you’ve been dreaming about in childhood? The answer would always be No. Now I know that with all the mixed-up emotions in a wedding day, I think the day would turn out anything but perfectly dreamy. Yet Sir Buddy can capture all the stress and all the problems during the day and still show both the comedy and the drama hidden by all the people running around. Even the lame joke of the bride seems so funny when Sir Buddy shows it.

A Buddy Gancenia wedding video is a product of passion, not only of the bride and groom, but of the people who record and re-create memories of the day both bride and groom long to cherish as long as they both shall live.
